Getting Off That College Waitlist

Getting Off That College Waitlist April 2 Doing nothing is not the answer to getting off that college waitlist (photo credit: Chensiyuan). Parents and students, it is definitely not too late to try to start getting off that college waitlist! Think about it like this. If youre a bicycle accessories salesman, is the trick to selling bicycle accessories doing absolutely nothing? If youre a realtor, is the trick to securing clients sitting at home watching reruns of Friends? If youre a lawyer, is the trick to landing a major client surfing in Hawaii? Not unless youve got some very wealthy surfing buddies. The point is, doing nothing in life and in the highly selective college admissions process is not the answer. Being proactive is the answer. But being proactive does not mean visiting the school and asking for a one-on-one meeting with an admissions officer. Oy vey. Parents think they know what theyre doing when it comes to helping their kids get off waitlists. In our many years of experience, one thing that we can say for sure is that most parents just dont have a clue. Were not going to go into much more detail about what should be done to gain admission off a highly selective college waitlist beyond writing a powerful letter of enthusiasm (and we promise the letter that your kid writes likely isnt powerful or even good for that matter). Its something weve also gleaned from our many years in the business of highly selective college admissions. Students just cant write. Thats right. Your child with perfect grades including an 800 on the writing section of the SAT there is a very good chance that her college essays are downright awful. Sorry to break it to you, but sometimes the truth hurts. If youre interested in getting started on trying to get off that college waitlist, fill out our consultation form today and well be in touch. This isnt something to think about if you want off that waitlist. Thinking will burn days. We would need to get started at once. As in now.
